Lunch in Aix en Provence

We are so fortunate to have three great cities so closeby, Avignon, Marseilles and Aix en Provence.
Aix, famous for its tree lined boulevards, fountains, chic shops, cafes & restaurants is less than an hours drive.

It has undergone considerable construction work over the last 5 years with new appartments and shops creating a modern quarter that blends with the classically old buildings.

There are so many pretty buildings and squares to wander round, take a coffee and people watch, a daily morning market adds to the atmosphere.

One of the most difficult things in a big city is to choose the best place to eat, something most important in the days agenda.
Whilst visiting this week we tried the restaurant 'Côté cour' , tucked away behind the cours Mirabeau, headed by an award winning chef Ronan Kernen who was a recent contender on 'Top chef' the French equivalent of Britains Professional master chef.
At lunch there is a fixed menu at just 29€ for three course with a choice of two starters, two mains and dessert.

My starter was delicious, a poached egg (at 64 degrees) with smoked haddock, croutons and foam.

Karen's main  'fillet of Cabillaud' with Asparagus.

And my Veal with epeautre was incredible

The dessert  was equally delicious, a croustillant of chocolate with beurre sale sauce and ice cream.

or for the complete chocoholic this cold chocolate bomb which collapses as the hot sauce is poured over it!

We shall be going back and have added it to our list which we offer to all our guests!
