Blooming Lavender

The last day of May and our Lavender is just coming out into flower, but for those booked into see the July spectacle, when Provence will be filled with the purple flowers and scent of lavender have no fear there is plenty still to come out especially on higher ground towards Sault and the Plateau de Valensole.

Saint Saturnin Les Apt will be on the map on 20th july when the tour de France will pass straight through the centre of the village. For sure we shall be there watching.

Fantastic Fish!

despite being 100kilometres from the sea our supermarket in Apt, LeClerc has the most amazing choice of fresh fish, prices are excellent , they will prepare the fish whether you be cooking it in the oven or bbq and if your a reguler you get a free lemon!! hows that for a loyality bonus. 

And unlike the choice we have seen in the UK the fish even have heads on!

Lazy Sunday walk

We couldn`t quite muster the energy to walk to far today so instead walked via the Boulangerie and headed up past the Moulin , crossing the former reservoir which is looking a tad low of water and up to the chateau which dates to the 13 century . Its a fabulous walk with great views of the village and valley towards the grand Luberon. 

A nightingale sang in St Sat square

Stepping outside in the starlit garden tonight I hear the Scops Owl to the East and the Nightingale to the west , how wonderful nature is! 

Early Cherries!

Almost mid May and the beautiful juicy cherries that the area is renowned for are already ripening, perhaps a week or two earlier than normal, so head to the Sunday market in Coustellet where all the local producters will be selling the best cherries picked just hours before.

Another great restaurant in the centre of Saint Saturnin Les Apt

The Hotel des Voyageurs , run by Nadine & Alain is in the centre of the village square, it has a new terrace where you can take coffee, lunch and dinner. They have a lovely characterful dining room should you prefer to eat inside.  Check out their new menu for the early summer.

Our house Le Chene is ready for our guests from Switzerland who arrive today for two weeks with temperatures in the mid 20`S forecast they are in for a great holiday in the Luberon.

We have one week available in June (21st to 28th) and due to a cancellation two weeks in August (9th to 23rd )

Village life

The Bar du Platane on the corner opposite the post office is a popular stopping point for cyclists and bikers, and in high season they serves light lunches and pizzas in the evenings and hold regular music events .
