Like much of the UK and Europe we have seen some quite unusual weather over the last fortnight with cooler temperatures and some much needed rain. The locals are certainly bringing back out their winter gear!
I took this last week after a night of rain , the Mistral clearing away the clouds in the valley.
The holiday season is well under way here, and most of the restaurants that closed during winter have re opened. We are taking on the task of checking out some of our old favourites as well as finding some new ones to recommend to clients.
The Fountain in Villars has new owners as of last year, Nadine and her husband Tjebbe.
After a visit so the Sunday market in Coustellet we walked from home to Villars (abt 4 kms) to earn our lunch.
There is a fixed menu with a number of seasonal specials including Asperagus which has just come into season.
The Fish soup with accompments was excellent!
And my rack of Lamb was sensational!
And of course dessert! equally tasty.
The wine list includes an excellent range of local White , rose & reds which are correctly priced.
Prices range from 20€ to 50€ per head depending on how many courses and how much wine you drink!
A walk home rounds off the perfect meal!
Go and enjoy......
